Having spent the majority of my life in rural areas of the south I have always been drawn to its landscape. There is something mystifying, almost haunting about these places. My art conveys the isolated senses of emotion found in these landscapes, though I do not consider my drawings or paintings to be that of actual landscapes. The atmosphere itself, its aesthetics, continually influence ideas towards the meaning of art, the measurement of time, acceptance of change, and finding a sense of belonging within it all. My work is engaged with ways to express ideas by exploring different states of mind between emotional content and the essence of abstraction. During the act of drawing/painting I do not feel confined to a certain medium or style, nor a set amount of time or measurement of size on any given piece. Here I find trust in intuition and discover serendipity. My work almost becomes detached and uninvolved from any type of set objective. The different mediums illustrating my work are impressions of the seen and feelings of the unseen surrounding me. It is here that I look into the canvas for the aesthetical elements of color and leaking facets of composition.
